6th race: Connemara Ultra Marathon (the last race)

Sunday, April 19, 2020 - rescheduled as a virtual race for September 20

On Sunday, September 20, 2020, Baiba ran the last race of Run to Plant Trees initiative - Connemara Ultra Marathon, 64 km long race. It was Baiba’s first ultra marathon ever! As this was a virtual race, there were no aid stations, the first half was self-supported and most of the second half Baiba’s partner was her support crew on a bike. For Connemara Ultra Marathon Baiba planned her own 64 km long route that covered Galway City, Salthill, all the way out to Spiddal and up to Moycullen Bogs before turning back towards Galway with a finish line on the Silverstrand beach.

3rd race: Run Killarney Half Marathon

Saturday, July 20, 2019

Second and last half marathon for Run to Plant Trees initiative, that raises funds for Hometree charity to plant native and indigenous Irish trees along the West Coast of Ireland.
This was one of the most stunning races that Baiba has run, plus it was an all downhill race, and one of these rare times when a part of the Ring of Kerry belongs to runners only. Such a magical and beautiful experience, no wonder Baiba bet her PB for a half marathon with a time of 1:48:54.

Achill Half

2nd race: Achill Half Marathon

Saturday, July 6, 2019

First half marathon for Run to Plant Trees initiative. The race was a stunning and scenic route around the Achill Island, but what was even more outstanding about this race, was an adventure to it. Baiba and her fiance decided to cycle to the half marathon the day before from Castlebar to Achill, Keel, 66 km cycle to the hotel and then 8 km cycle to pick up the bib. 10 min after crossing the finish line of the half marathon Baiba hopped on the bike once again to cycle 60 km from Keel to Westport, to catch a ride back to Galway City.

1st race: Connemara Full Marathon

Sunday, April 14, 2019

Opening race for Run to Plant Trees initiative!
Absolutely stunning, humbling and wonderful race, with an early start from Lough Inagh, passing through the valleys of Connemara that change with each glimmering light of sun and downpour of rain, with few tough climbs, the last, mere 6 km before the finish line, aptly named the Hell of the Waste. It is hard to capture the beauty of Connemara in words, you have to see it and soak it up yourself.
